Description:
The Annual Sports Day at our school was a grand event, graced by the esteemed presence of the Chief Guest, Smt. Sunita Rani, PPS (D.R), Commandant, 1st Commando Battalion, Bahadurgarh, Patiala. The event witnessed the vibrant participation of students from all grades, showcasing their athletic prowess and cultural talent.
The day began with a striking Zumba performance and an enthralling Rajasthani dance by the students of classes 6 and 7, followed by a high-energy Bhangra performance by class 8 that had the audience on their feet. The synchronized march past by all four houses—St. Clare’s, St. Francis, St. Joseph’s, and St. Mary’s—along with the NSS volunteers, was a spectacle of discipline and coordination.
A beautifully crafted and mesmerizing tableau titled ‘A Glimpse of Sports in the City Beautiful.’" highlighted Chandigarh as a treasure trove of breathtaking gardens, iconic monuments, and architectural wonders and a city where the passion for sports runs deep.
The Felicitation Ceremony saw the recognition of school’s International achievers, including International Wushu Champion Himanshi and Lavisha Gahlawat -a prominent player of the Indian Handball team that showcased its prowess at Handball World Championship U18, PR China, alongside several national-level players and academic achievers who were honored for their outstanding accomplishments. The athletes who excelled in various field and track events were awarded with medals and trophies. Parents, teachers and support staff enthusiastically participated in the fun races.
The Overall Champion Trophy was clinched by St Mary's House, with St Francis securing the runner-up trophy. The Chief Guest lauded the efforts of the participants and students and school faculty, and exhorted the students to continue striving for excellence in all endeavors. Rev Sr Venita Joseph, the Principal, commended the unrelenting spirit and tireless efforts of the staff and the students in making the event a resounding success. She emphasized that an event like Annual Sports Day reiterates the significance of solidarity and the unifying power of sports.
